William Kerns

William Kerns was born February 09, 1829 in Yellow Springs, Path Valley, Pennsylvania.
He married Susanna Casner* January 02, 1859. They had seven children; Emma, John, Orville, Adin, Archie, Anna and Mary.

He enlisted from Blair County in Company L. 12th. Regt. Pa. Vol. Cavalary on February 05, 1862.
He served through the Second Bull Run and Antietam campaigns before being hospitalized due to sunstroke.
He was honorably discharged from U.S. General Hospital, Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland on October 22, 1862.
He died on June 14, 1904, in Frankstown, Blair Conty, aged 75 years, and suffering arthritis acquired from his service.
*Susanna Casner was a sister of John Casner of Company C. William and his brother-in-law John apparently enlisted at the same time.
